A constant in today’s workplace is change, and a company’s ability to adapt to these changes is critical for success. Schiavello’s Climate system was designed with this idea of complete workspace malleability in mind, enabling organizations, teams and individuals to shape and personalize their work environment to meet their own specific requirements. It’s then just as easy for them to make adjustments for new situations as they arise. Climate allows you to easily form and reform workspaces by quickly adding, removing or changing elements and altering layouts. In a manner of speaking, Climate was built for change.
Peter Schiavello, Managing Director of Schiavello and collaborator Peter Geyer, founder and former CEO of strategic design consultancy Geyer enlisted a team of renowned in-field specialists in design, behavioral psychology and data analysis. The group of experts included futurist Susan Oliver, Australian fashion designer Akira Isogawa, Italian ‘color master’ Giulio Ridolfo, ergonomist David Caple, acoustic consultant Marshall Day and Schiavello’s own Design Studio. Based on the team’s research and advice, Climate was initially designed ahead of its time and has since continuously evolved to reflect whatever the current climate – a window into where the system gets its name.
To evolve beyond today’s workstations, that are commonly tethered to a floor plate, Schiavello developed the Climate system to behave like loose furniture using three key elements: the channel, articulator and table. Freestanding channels support the infrastructure, including power and data, monitor arms, dividers and accessories.
A flexible articulator links the channels together, while the table sits independent of the channel offering more versatility. Services enter via ceiling or floor mounted junctions, these junctions swivel so that a whole strand of workstations can pivot around a 120-degree axis. What does all this mean? We no longer need to plan and design in straight lines and workspaces can be reimagined without the need for tools or tradespeople.
Customize the Climate system further with the help of Schiavello’s innovative ColourLab palette that brings a thoughtful range of finishes to working, learning and living spaces. Curated by Italian ‘color master’ Giulio Ridolfo, the palette expertly balances color, texture and layering across a variety of materials. A collection of electrical options for Climate include integrated service modules that are available in the Schiavello ColourLab powder coat range, and all service requirements for power and data can be accommodated above and below the worktop. An ever-growing selection of accessories that include storage solutions, modesty panels, markers and more further support the personalization of each workspace.
Schiavello’s Climate system does the thinking ahead for you, so whether the entire workspace needs to be reconfigured to accommodate a new employee or only a few tables for part of a project, you’re ready.
